Methods of repairing and maintaining precision measuring tools
[2020-09-25]

The correct use of precision measuring tools is one of the important conditions to ensure the quality of products. In order to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the measuring tool, in addition to the operation according to the reasonable use method, the maintenance and maintenance of the measuring tool must be done well.

1. When measuring parts on the machine tool, it is necessary to wait for the parts to stop completely. Otherwise, the measuring surface of the measuring tool will not only wear prematurely and lose precision, but also cause accidents.

2. Before measurement, the measuring surface of the measuring tool and the measured surface of the parts should be wiped clean, so as to avoid the influence of dirt on the measurement accuracy. It is wrong to use precision measuring tools such as vernier caliper, dial gauge and dial indicator to measure the surface of forging casting blank or with abrasive (such as carborundum) so that the measuring surface will wear quickly and lose its accuracy.

3. The measuring tools should not be stacked together with tools and cutting tools such as files, hammers, turning tools and drill bits, so as to avoid bumping the measuring tools. Don't put it on the machine tool casually to prevent the measuring tool from falling down and damaging due to the vibration of the machine tool. In particular, the vernier caliper should be placed horizontally in a special box to avoid deformation of the ruler body.

4. Measuring tools are measuring tools and can not be used as substitutes for other tools. For example, it is wrong to draw a line with a caliper, use a dial rule as a small hammer, use a steel ruler as a screw driver, and use a steel ruler to clean the chips. It is also wrong to use the measuring tool as a toy, such as holding the micrometer in the hand, waving or swinging it at will, which will easily make the measuring tool lose its precision.

5. Temperature has a great influence on the measurement results. The precision measurement of parts must be carried out at 20 ℃ for both parts and measuring tools. Generally, the measurement can be carried out at room temperature, but the temperature of the workpiece and the measuring tool must be consistent, otherwise, due to the thermal expansion and cold contraction characteristics of metal materials, the measurement results are not accurate.

Temperature also has a great impact on the accuracy of measuring tools. Measuring tools should not be placed in the sun or on the bedside box, because the correct size can not be measured after the measuring tool temperature rises. Don't put the precision measuring tool near the heat source (such as electric furnace, heat exchanger, etc.), so as to avoid losing accuracy due to deformation caused by heating.

6. Do not put the precision measuring tool near the magnetic field, such as the magnetic table of grinding machine, so as not to make the measuring tool magnetized.

7. When it is found that the precision measurement has abnormal phenomena, such as uneven surface, burr, rust spot, inaccurate scale, bending deformation of ruler body, inflexible movement, etc., the user shall not dismantle and repair it by himself, nor shall it repair it with rough methods such as hammering, file filing and sanding, so as to avoid increasing the measuring error. If the above situation is found, the user shall take the initiative to send it to the metering station for maintenance, and continue to use the measuring tool after the accuracy of the measuring tool is verified.

8. After use, the measuring tools should be wiped clean in time. Except for stainless steel measuring tools or those with protective coating, the metal surface should be coated with a layer of antirust oil and placed in a special box and kept in a dry place to avoid rusting.

9. Precision measuring tools should be regularly verified and maintained. Precision measuring tools used for a long time should be sent to the measuring station for maintenance and verification of accuracy regularly, so as to avoid product quality accidents caused by the over tolerance of indication error of measuring tools.
